Voice over IP phone trial October 2010 We are testing a new Voice over IP (VOIP) phone service on our main office number. All our existing phone numbers still work but are routed over the internet. We were interested in testing this phone technology ourselves as a number of clients are interested in the technology. We did have a trial about 5 years ago but at that time concluded call quality and reliability was too poor for regular business use. For those new to VOIP, it is basically an internet based phone with features usually not found on a fixed landline such as call transfer, a number in another city or country (with low cost local calling charges), and voicemail messages delivered by email. There are a number of service providers, some aimed at single users and others aimed at offices with full switchboard functionality. Skype is probably the most well known VOIP provider. We will let you know in a couple of months how we find the service.
HTC Desire mobile phones              September 2010 It’s that time of year when we can finally upgrade our mobile phones to a new model. The big question for us was if we should follow the crowd and go for an iPhone. After speaking to a number of iPhone users we decided not, and chose the highly commended HTC Desire running the Android operating system. Android was created by Google and we were hoping for excellent integration with our Google hosted email accounts. We are not disappointed. Within a few minutes of unpacking the phone, all our emails, contacts, calendars and Google info had synchronised. Plus other useful Google tools are really well integrated into the phone: Google Maps with Sat-nav functionality built in at no cost. The only down side so far, in common with most other large screen smart phones, is limited battery life. This phone needs frequent charging. We’ve found keeping the screen brightness down helps a lot. Overall, this is a great phone, particularly for people with email hosted on Google Apps (although it has MS Exchange and IMAP email options too).

New office number 0208 819 1360      November 2010 We have retired our old 0845 office number. Calls will be automatically routed to our new number 0208 819 1360. In the past, the 0845 number was a good solution for a flexible number, but now we have other options. BT and TalkTalk include 0845 numbers in their inclusive call packages but calls from mobiles to 0845 numbers are charged and are not part of any inclusive minutes package. We hope this change will make it cheaper for you to call us.
