Switched On Consulting is a people management consultancy offering project work, training, recruitment and an HR helpdesk.

Switched On Consulting had previously relied on an individual IT freelancer for the administration of a small network of PC's, laptops and one Microsoft Small Business Server. When he was offered a full-time role elsewhere, they were left to rely on their own acquired IT skills and those of their contacts.
When the system started suffering performance problems, they called in DGT Technology to resolve the issues, perform housekeeping tasks and to install additional memory to get the system back up and running. In the process DGT identified longer term issues that needed to be addressed.
Total Care
Switched On Consulting then decided to use DGT Technology's Total Care service to sort out the immediate issues which were compromising the system and to put in place systems and procedures which would ensure reliability in the future. The back up system was renewed and images taken of PCs hard disks to create a comprehensive data back up. Hard drives were wiped clean and programs re-installed from scratch to remove a build up of unwanted programs and data. Other tasks such as checking and resolving errors found in log files were also carried out. A plan was put in place to upgrade the system to meet future business needs, in a context where the business was expanding.

The server failed one Friday afternoon. Switched On Consulting were able to contact DGT Technology immediately and were able to rely on the system being restored and ready for work on Monday morning.
Continuing partnership
Building on this positive experience, DGT Technology are now starting to work with Switched On Consulting on developing website and database systems covering their core business areas such as recruitment, as well as business support such as billing and accounting systems.
